Researching

Today I am just researching for relevant articles to what my topic is, and printing them out and highlighting the main points that will help me with my project....

What i thought about doing the expert topic was Polygamist in Utah, Texas......

*In Utah Texas, they have a case pending on child abuse, because young women in their teens, are being married with multiple husbands and have children with the different husbands that they have.....

I also found out that the polygamy are a Mormon culture which is an ancient prophet believed to have complied a sacred history of Americans. Also its a member of the Mormon Church, Also called the Latter-day Saint

I also found out that polygamy, is defined as having more than one spouse at a one time.

Then we had to come up with 10 questions that are related to our topic,

1. What are some affects of child abuse?
2. How can you prevent this from happening?
3. How can a child prevent from being abused?
4. How many children have been abused in the world?
Expert Part....
5. What religion does polygamist believe in?
6. What happened in Utah, Texas?
7. What happened with the children? Why?
8.Are the courts giving them a chance to speck individually?
9. Why did Utah banned polygamy from Mormon churches?
10 How long has this been going on, and did it get worst in the time after it was banned from Mormon Churches?

Well that is all i have for today......And tomorrow i will have more.......
Leaving for New York in 5 more days YAHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Signs of Sexual child abuse

*Inappropriate interest in or knowledge of sexual acts
*Seductive behavior
*Reluctance or refusal to undress in front of others
*Extra aggression or, at the other end of the spectrum, extra compliance
*Fear of a particular person or family member

Children who use the internet are also vulnerable to come-ons by adults online. Among the warning signs of online sexual child abuse are these:

*Your child spends large amounts of time online, especially at night
*You find pornography on your child's computer
*Your child receives phone calls from people you don't know, or makes calls, sometimes long distance, to numbers you don't recognize
*Your child turns the computer monitor off or quickly changes the screen on the monitor when you come into the room
*Your child becomes withdrawn from the family
*Your child is using an online account belonging to someone else

Emotional Child Abuse
~Verbal Abuse
* Belittling or shaming the child: name-calling, making negative comparisons to others, telling the child he or she is "no good", "worthless," "a mistake."
* Habitual blaming: Telling the child that everything is his or her fault
~Withholding Affection
*Ignoring or disregarding the child
*Lack of affection and warmth: Failure to hug, praise, express love for the child
~Extreme Punishment
*These are actions that are meant to isolate and terrorize a child, such as tying the child to a fixture or piece of furniture or locking a child in a closet or dark room
~Corruption
* This involves causing a child to witness or participate in inappropriate behavior, such as criminal activities, drug or alcohol abuse, or acts of violence

Causes of Child Abuse

*Stress- including the stress of caring for children, or the stress of caring for a child with a disability, special needs, or difficult behaviors
*Lack of nurturing qualities- necessary for child abuse
*Immaturity- a disproportionate number of parents who abuse their children are teenagers
*Difficulty controlling anger
*Personal history of being abused
*Isolation from the family or community
*Physical or mental health problems, such as depression and anxiety
*Alcohol or drug abuse
*Personal Problem- such as martial conflict, unemployment, or financial difficulties

****No one has been able to predict which of these factors will cause someone to abuse a child. A significant factor is that abuse tends to be intergenerational those who were abused as children are more likely to repeat the act when they become parents or caretakers.****

Well thats all for today

May 2, 2008

Well yesterday, we had to try and figure out what we were doing our graduation project, and i found out that i wanted to do either something on either Child Abuse or Holocaust Survival. But i came to the conclusion that working with Holocaust it might be just a little too much work to make it a graduation project. So i decided that i am going to do my graduation project on Child Abuse.

Where i think that i might expert in is talking about the whole thing about child abuse because i want to do good, and when i was doing a little bit of research yesterday i remembered that there is a case of child abuse in Texas, with polygamist. And with that topic i think that i could go really into depth with this topic, to help me because an expert in what i am talking about with Child Abuse.

While researching i have found out that there are several different types of child abuse that happens, and the meaning of them....So i will post the different terms and the meanings.

Physical Abuse- Physical Abuse, which is 19% of all substantiated cases of Child Abuse, is the most visible form of abuse and may be defined as any act which results in a non-accidental trauma or physical injury.

I could not finish my blog today....but tomorrow i will have more terms and meanings of the terms tomorrow
